"And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall."

2nd Day of Spring (ya, right)

When Punxsutawney Phil predicted 6 more weeks of winter he wasn't kidding. Alas, March is almost over and this is what we have on the ground this morning.

Welcome to Spring!?

Life Change

25 years ago today I met two teenage boys who changed the way I saw myself. I still have the flyer from the event that brought us together.

Before I met them I was shy and unsure of myself. I rarely spoke, except at home, where I felt comfortable enough to speak up. I was teased. I was bullied. I was left out. And I had very few friends.

Then I met these two boys. I was accepted into their group of friends. We did almost everything together. At one time or another I liked both of them. I learned through my association with them that I was of worth.

People today describe me as bubbly and outgoing. I have been a PTA president. I have been an LDS missionary. I am currently a Cub Master in the Cub Scouting program. I am not afraid to get up in front of people and take charge.

In short, my life changed directions that day, 25 years ago.

To you young men, if you should read this, you know who you are...Thank-you!

On Principle: Influence

I follow a particular blog called "On Principle". I follow it for two reasons.
  1. It belongs to someone very important and significant in my life.
  2. It is worthwhile for me to read.
A few days ago he made an entry that I would like to share in my own blog, because I wish its influence to expand.

Make note of the "reading recently" link within the entry.
