"And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall."

Life in the fast track

For the few of you who read my blog I must apologize for the lack of new content over the past month. One of my teenagers signed up with the local high school marching band. This is no small commitment on the part of parents or the student for that matter. We live 6 miles from the high school so transporting him to and from practices and performances is not an easy task. Through the summer he had practices three times each week. Now we are into the school year and practices are four times each week.

The problem with these after school practices is that this teen ager still attends the local middle school and must be transported from the middle school to the high school three times per week. If any of you have ever dealt with a school parking lot after the bell rings know that chaos is the rule of thumb.

Now, take this chaos and double it...no, triple it. The chaos found at the high school, where teenage drivers run amok, are added to the mix of the usual afternoon rush. I quickly learned some dos and don'ts in dealing with the this nearly daily grind.

1- Sometimes left hand turns are faster.
2- Having a different pick-up location is a wise move.
3- Avoid driving directly in front of the high school (it will save your sanity).
4- Bring something for the preschooler to do on the way.

I should add that I am also on the local elementary PTA board (as Treasurer) and help out with a Cub Scout unit as a Cub Master.

I keep saying, "I will be glad when I get through this." But, I am sure I will look back on this as the time when life was simple. Note to self: Don't wish life away.
