Kelly is the mother of 5 adorable kids--4 boys and a girl. The girl came in a package with a boy (twins).
Kelly is married to a charming young man who lives and breathes computers. They are also guardians for three nieces and a nephew.
She is active in the community having served as PTA President of a local elementary school,
on the board of the Salt Lake Mothers of Twins, as a district round-table trainer with the Cub Scouts, as a volunteer for Sidelines (a support network for Women on bed rest during pregnancy) and she and her husband are active in the LDS Church.

This Single Image Stereogram was done at the 100 year anniversary of the building's completion.
"And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer,
who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea,
his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to
drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation,
a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall."
Paperclippings is branching out. I have joined forces with Phelonius to produce Res Civitatis. With so much to talk about in the political arena it was only a matter time before that subject should get its own forum. Res Civitatis is a place where we can discuss our shared Conservative values and yet still keep our respective blogs for what we had originally intended them for...more trivial matters.
We promise not to eat you for dinner...unless you are a troll, mmmmm, trolls are yummy.
"Utah ended Brigham Young's reign atop the Mountain West Conference and booked a trip to a BCS bowl for the second time in four years with a 48-24 victory over BYU Saturday night at jam-packed Rice-Eccles Stadium. " :)
The following is from an assignment my 12-year old son did at school. I thought it was worthy of a post.
"Attitude can change very many things. When you have a leash on your attitude, you can practically change the mood of not only you but everyone around you. If you have a good attitude, everyone will probably like you more!"
The following is from a blog I frequently read. It is from one of those listed in my favorites. I originally came across this blog while looking for blogs that hail from southwest Virginia/West Virginia as have lived in that area.
As I read today I was reminded why I have a link to it.
The answer comes from the ever-sententious Charleston Gazette:
Why did Democrat-dominated West Virginia remain a Republican "red state" for the third straight presidential election? Marshall University professor Marybeth Beller told West Virginia Public Radio it might be because less-educated, white, blue-collar families in southern coal counties were leery of the unfamiliar "otherness" of Barack Obama, a mixed-race intellectual raised unusually in Hawaii, Indonesia and elsewhere. She noted that better-educated, more cosmopolitan voters in Morgantown and the Eastern Panhandle gave higher support to Obama.
So why did every Democrat in West Virginia who was running for statewide and congressional office win last Tuesday?
It must be because less-educated, white, blue-collar families in southern coal counties were leery of the unfamiliar "otherness" of Republicans, a group from mixed-socio-economic circumstances, most of whom were rumored to be native West Virginians, and that better-educated, more cosmopolitan voters in Morgantown and the Eastern Panhandle were just as wise the people of West Virginia are really smart.
California Mormons had every right to fight for Prop 8
The LDS Church asked its members in California to support prop 8. They had the choice to support the LDS leadership in this or to ignore that request. It did not ask Utah Mormons to contribute in anyway to this cause. The leadership of the LDS Church, itself, did not contribute in time or money except to fly one or two of their leaders to California to talk to the members there. Yet it is Utah that the pro gay marriage supporters are asking to boycott.
Do they not realize that nearly 800,000 Mormons live in California? That is almost as many as live in Utah.
The Mormon (LDS) citizens of California had every right to fight for Prop 8 by donating time and money. But they were not the only ones in the fight for Prop 8. If all of the California Mormons had voted for the Proposition and no others had voted for it, Prop 8 would have failed miserably. But not everyone in California sees the gay marriage issue the same way as San Fransisco or Hollywood.
Former head of Salt Lake Diocese comes to defense of LDS Church
Bishop William Weigand, who is now head of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sacramento, issued the statement in response to recent attacks on the LDS Church.
In part, the statement reads: "Catholics stand in solidarity with our Mormon brothers and sisters in support of traditional marriage - the union of one man and one woman - that has been the major building block of Western Civilization for millennia.
The ProtectMarriage coalition, which led the successful campaign to pass Proposition 8, was an historic alliance of people from every faith and ethnicity. LDS were included--but so were Catholics and Jews, Evangelicals and Orthodox, African-Americans and Latinos, Asians and Anglos.
…Bigoted attacks on Mormons for the part they played in our coalition are shameful and ignore the reality that Mormon voters were only a small part of the groundswell that supported Proposition 8."
On the side: If Robert Redford's Sundance pulls out of Utah, as boycott proponents hope, it will hurt one of the most liberal counties in Utah. Go figure!
My wonderful better half just brought this website to my attention. It is from Obama's (Office of the President-elect) website http://change.gov/americaserves/. This is not heresay, my friends.
"When you choose to serve -- whether it's your nation, your community or simply your neighborhood -- you are connected to that fundamental American ideal that we want life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness not just for ourselves, but for all Americans. That's why it's called the American dream."
The Obama Administration will call on Americans to serve in order to meet the nation’s challenges. President-Elect Obama will expand national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps and will create a new Classroom Corps to help teachers in underserved schools, as well as a new Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps. Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by developing a plan to require 50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year. Obama will encourage retiring Americans to serve by improving programs available for individuals over age 55, while at the same time promoting youth programs such as Youth Build and Head Start.
What does this mean? My fellow conservatives, this means that our students who are already taxed with homework and jobs will now be required, yes REQUIRED, to serve in some community service or other.
As a parent of middle school, high school and college students I dislike this program immensely. I know that community service is a good thing. I have boys who have been through or are going through the Boys Scouts program. I know all about having kids serve in this capacity. But what Obama is asking here is government slave labor. They want our youth to serve the government. My husband adds, "No mention of armbands or uniforms."
Can you see our freedoms slip away?? One by one...
This was written by one of my sisters. I post it here with permission.
According to Karl Marx, socialism will be achieved through a class struggle and a “Proletarian revolution.” This revolution is the stepping-stone to socialism.
A Proletarian revolution is defined by Wikipedia.com as a “social and/or political revolution in which the working class attempts to overthrow the bourgeoisie.” Proletarian revolutions are generally advocated by socialists.”
“In Marxism, the need for a proletarian revolution is a cornerstone and the first step towards dismantling the exploitations brought about by capitalism. Marxists believe that the workers of the world must unite and free themselves from capitalist oppression to create a world run by and for the working class. In the Marxist view, proletarian revolutions will inevitably happen in all capitalist countries.”
“The Leninist branch of Marxism argues that a proletarian revolution must be led by a vanguard of ‘professional revolutionaries’ [read: Obama, as a ‘community organizer’]’- that is, men and women who are fully dedicated to the communist revolutionary movement. This van guard is meant to provide leadership and organization to the rest of the working class before and during the revolution, so as the prevent the all-too- common situation in which the government defeats the revolution thanks to the superior discipline and organization of its police and army.”
There are other Marxists who believe that the vanguard is not necessary and insist that the entire working class, or a large part of it must be committed and very involved in its movement in order for the proletarian revolution to be successful. The goal of these Marxists is to organize and fund massive working class movements with very large numbers.

"Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word, equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude. "
For those who are LDS this picture will be somewhat familiar. Someone sent me this picture of Captain Moroni and his Title of Liberty with a current day twist.
Whether you believe in the Book of Mormon or not...these words are fitting.
Alma 46:10-13
10 Yea, we see that Amalickiah, because he was a man of cunning device and a man of many flattering words, that he led away the hearts of many people to do wickedly; yea, and to seek to destroy the church of God, and to destroy the foundation of liberty which God had granted unto them, or which blessing God had sent upon the face of the land for the righteous’ sake. 11 And now it came to pass that when Moroni, who was the chief commander of the armies of theNephites, had heard of these dissensions, he was angry with Amalickiah. 12 And it came to pass that he rent his coat; and he took a piece thereof, and wrote upon it—In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children—and he fastened it upon the end of a pole. 13 And he fastened on his head-plate, and his breastplate, and his shields, and girded on his armor about his loins; and he took the pole, which had on the end thereof his rent coat, (and he called it the title of liberty) and he bowed himself to the earth, and he prayed mightily unto his God for the blessings of liberty to rest upon his brethren, so long as there should a band of Christians remain to possess the land—
