From Capitalism to Socialism—via Obama
This was written by one of my sisters. I post it here with permission.
According to Karl Marx, socialism will be achieved through a class struggle and a “Proletarian revolution.” This revolution is the stepping-stone to socialism.
A Proletarian revolution is defined by Wikipedia.com as a “social and/or political revolution in which the working class attempts to overthrow the bourgeoisie.” Proletarian revolutions are generally advocated by socialists.”
“In Marxism, the need for a proletarian revolution is a cornerstone and the first step towards dismantling the exploitations brought about by capitalism. Marxists believe that the workers of the world must unite and free themselves from capitalist oppression to create a world run by and for the working class. In the Marxist view, proletarian revolutions will inevitably happen in all capitalist countries.”
“The Leninist branch of Marxism argues that a proletarian revolution must be led by a vanguard of ‘professional revolutionaries’ [read: Obama, as a ‘community organizer’]’- that is, men and women who are fully dedicated to the communist revolutionary movement. This van guard is meant to provide leadership and organization to the rest of the working class before and during the revolution, so as the prevent the all-too- common situation in which the government defeats the revolution thanks to the superior discipline and organization of its police and army.”
There are other Marxists who believe that the vanguard is not necessary and insist that the entire working class, or a large part of it must be committed and very involved in its movement in order for the proletarian revolution to be successful. The goal of these Marxists is to organize and fund massive working class movements with very large numbers.

It's difficult for most voters to understand the risks of socialism.
All their lives, they have benefitted from capitalism. Even those categorized as living in poverty have a higher standard of living in this country than do those in many European countries.
The "poor" here have cars, cell phones, color television, regrigerators, air conditioning, computers and live in larger houses than the poor in other countries.
If you want an example of what harm socialism can do visit Venezuela. In the few years since Hugo Chavez took power the country staples like bread, milk, rice and beans have become scarce.
Imagine going to the store and finding no food there! That doesn't happen in capitalist countries but has been all too frequent in many socialist/communist countries.

Mike, that is so true. They think that redistribution of wealth is going to improve things for the less fortunate.
If those who do work are given the same amount of return as those who don't work, there is little incentive to work.
I know that is the simple version and it isn't quite as straight forward as that, but that is the gist of it.
One just has to look at the difference between East and West Germany to see the results of having lived under Socialist control vs living with some form of Capitalism.
Here is a link to that picture that Mike left.

Socialism, a mere step from Communism is responsible for untold death and poverty, and even a cursory look at history tells us this.
*sigh*
Socialism is proof to the old addage that misery loves company.
kelly - i had tocqueville on the brain yesterday and the day before and posted quotes everywhere - may we show this potus the same measure of respect they showed the last one.
TIME FOR SCRUTININZING!
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Nanc,
WE WILL BE WATCHFUL!!
But we will do it with class :)
The philosophical/ideological forebears of "socialism"--from Marat and Robespierre of the French Revolution to the Bolsheviks of the Russian one--were liars and murderers.
What was that saying about history repeating itself???
The realities of this new administration may not be seen for some time...but it will be seen.
I'm glad we can still be the best of friends no matter what our differences are between religion and politics.
