"And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall."

Judging a book by its cover

I recently received a book as a gift. It is old and warn. At first glance this book might not seem very interesting, but the words inside that book are the same ones that come with a newer printing of the book.

All too often we see a book and for various reasons we do not open the book to find out what is inside. It could be that we don't like the look of the cover. It could be that we see just the title and back away. Perhaps we have read another book by the same author and didn't like what we read. That generally has a bearing on what the next book will be like, but it just might be worthwhile.

Does that mean we have to read every book to decide whether they are worthy of our time? No. We find out what a book is about by reading what other people say, by reading the comments from those who have read that book.

Sometimes, however, we just have to pick up the book and find out for ourselves. We might find a book, that was not highly recommended, to be very enjoyable.
