"And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall."

The End of the World! Or the beginning... MEME

I was tapped by J~ over at Eeps, Meeps and Ipes for the "Blog Apocalypse" meme. It was started by UrbanMonk, who is donating to charity based upon the participation.

"Now there's a reason to do participate in the meme!Anyway, it goes like this: We're gonna pretend the entire Blogosphere is coming to an end! You have the opportunity to make one last post. A chance to summarize your blog, leave people with one last gem, whatever. What do you say?"

Well, My blog is a mixture many things. It is called Paperclippings after all. Mostly it is an outlet for things that are on my mind. Sometimes others are interested in what I say. Other times they could care less. That does not matter. This is my outlet. I do, however, appreciate those who stop to comment and visit.

I forgot to add a tag to the end...

I tag:

  1. John O at whatever medium he chooses.
  2. Curtains...
  3. Republicus
  4. Amy
  5. Phelonius

Here are my thoughts on this:

So, the end of the Blogosphere is finally at hand.

This can mean one of two things: 1. Christ is coming today, so we should all be trying to look really busy, or, 2. the RIAA, the Chinese and Congress have finally achieved their most cherished goal of controlling all free thought.

In the first case scenario, I guess I should have been more careful with my lifestyle and two or three or....oh dern it, ok, a whole LOT of things. Still, knowing that the Man is back also means that Good Things will, for the first time since Adam discovered that his private parts were waving around in the wind, happen rather than being hugely outnumbered by Bad Things. Anyone that has ever been in the Blogosphere knows intuitively that evil things proliferate out here, while good things are like finding an honest politician. It happens, but OH SO RARELY. There is an old adage that says if you put a million monkeys in front of a million keyboards, eventually one of them will write a Shakespearean play. Looking at the internet proves that old adage wrong, drastically and fatally wrong. In our case, millions of monkeys in front of millions of keyboards have only proven that monkeys do not understand grammar, spell-checks or good sense.

Porn, hate-oriented sites, mis-information, 40-somethings sending pictures of their junk to children on MySpace, and going to www.sciolistsalmagundi.com will probably be our collective damnation.

That being as it may, there are those few shining lights out there that have made the Blogosphere a lot of fun. Paperclippings has been one of those lights. Kelly is a great person, and it is hard to downplay someone of integrity and intelligence. In spite of that, she has not blocked me from commenting, so she isn't exactly perfect.

If this is the case of the second scenario, well, this has been expected for a long time. This just means that the dark forces in the world have scored another blow against freedom. One thing about a totally free area of communication is that there are those that will use this medium to fight for the right things, precious few though they may be. The RIAA, Congress and the Chinese have long fought against the free expression of ideas, and they have had their sights on the Blogoshpere for a long time. Now that it is going away, I guess I should use this opportunity to express deep and profound thoughts on this.........NAH!

We have all seen Star Wars, so we KNOW how this has to ultimately end. Good will ultimately triumphs, and all 5, or maybe 6 really good blogs will someday re-appear. You will be able to read all about it on this site.
