Isn't it supposed to be warm for baseball games?? Apparantly, not here in Utah this year. Standard equipment for enduring these little league baseball games has been coats, blankets, propane heaters, hot chocolate, two pairs of socks and gloves. I kid you not.
Not only has it been in the 30s and 40s for these games, but it has been windy and snowy.
Because of this strangely cooler-than-normal weather we have a few die-hards who show up to watch the boys play. There was one game that was held on an evening that was warm enough to bring out everyone else. The very next game was held during another cold one. Those same die-hard parents were there as before.
This evening I plan to wear two pairs of socks, legwarmers, a coat (with a hood), gloves and I will take a blanket (the warmest, fuzziest one I can find.)

SNOW???
wuh?
it's been a little chillish in the evenings here and the storms have been worse than usual.
bundle up, kelly!

Indeed. And warn the kids not to bare-hand any line drives...
Nanc, I woke up this morning to see a fresh dusting of snow on the mountains right by my house.
A couple weeks ago we had a snow storm hit right in the last inning of the game. Up until that point it had been VERY windy and chilly. That was the week that the propane heater was brought for the first time. I don't own the heater the the parents who brought it soon became my best friends ;)
Alice, Oh, my kid won't even go to the game without his mit. He also won't pick up a bat without gloves on his hands to protect them from the vigrations of the bat when it comes in contact with the ball.
Sports aren't sports unless they're played in inclement weather.
Builds character, you know? ;)
Take me out to the snow game, take me out where its cold!
Buy me a hot dog and hand warmer, buy me a seat blanket so I can get over it......
And root, root root for the home team, if they all freeze its a shame...
and is Brrr, Brrrrr, my eyelashes are froze at the old ....baaalllll.... gaaaaame
James, I am going to make a copy of that to take to the game tomorrow evening. I bet the other parents will really appreciate that one. I certainly got a laugh out of it.
:)
Brooke, We are talking about the parents being cold. I am already a character. I don't think I need any more ;)
You can never have or be too much of a character! LOL!
It's like November over here in D/VA today, Kelly. Brrrr.
John, we finally got some warm weather for a couple days, but it is back to raining again.
I hope it warms up a bit there in Virginia.
Did I tell you about getting back there to VA a little over 2 years ago? We didn't get as far east as you, though.
Part of me will always be in VA.
It's good living here.
I spent most of 1988 living in Virginia. That was about the same time that my soon to be hubby (hadn't yet met him) was living and working in Rockville, MD.
I had a chance to revisit parts of Virginia in the fall of 2005.
Do you have any dogwood trees near where you are? I wish they would grow here. Soil and climate are just not good for them here.
btw...its 45 degrees here right now.
and we have a baseball game tonight...
~sigh~
I slept with the windows open and covers off last night... temps are perfect here in Maryland.
Kelly -- that is simply hilarious! Summer sports when snow is all around. It's called 'Global Warming' as so I've heard.
I hope it's all melted BY NOW???

by the way, Phelonius...your a poet and didn't know it? That was simply the cutest poem!!!
